I've been to Jeffrey's over the years and continue to be impressed by the service here and quality of the food. The restaurant has been renovated over time and in its current form has three separate dining areas (bar area, larger dining area and a separate room area between the two) - bench and chair seating throughout. It is a little cozy with the tables being somewhat close together. Hors D'oeuvres that we enjoyed - Truffled Deviled Eggs - shaved truffles but with truffled egg yolks too - Crab & Sesame Beignets - Tarts of Beef Tartare Caviar service is also excellent here - comes with soft ware blinis and the usual class accoutrement of egg, egg yolk, red onions, chives and creme fraiche. For mains - we enjoyed: Gulf Snapper en Papillote - gulf snapper cooked in parchment with lump crab, thai basil, king trumpet mushrooms, baby turnip & infused carrot broth. Fragrant and delicately balanced flavors 26oz 32 day dry-aged wagyu ribeye from Beeman Ranch. Marbled with the the unctuousness of the dry aging. Served with a few sauces - chimichurri, Jeffrey's steak sauce and some garlic confit and rosemary butter. Seared mushrooms were a nice accompaniment, and the crispy brussels sprouts were a huge hit.
First time at Jeffrey's! We stopped in for our anniversary and the staff was so kind to place a 'happy anniversary' card on the table for us. They gave us complimentary champagne to celebrate and popovers for the table. It's a cozy restaurant, and was bustling, even on a Thu evening. Our server recommended that we order everything together and they'll pace the service. We ordered the escargot, bone in strip, pureed potatoes (which were divine!), roasted garlic broccolini, and the baked Alaska for dessert. The strip was delicious and tender and cooked to my liking (medium rare). There wasn't a bad bite on the table. Our server brought out petit fours out to the table to close out the night. Only downside discovered when I got home - they forgot to pack my bone in the to-go bag. I had mentioned I wanted to take it home for my pups. But overall a great experience. Valet or street parking available.
There is eating, and then there is dining. Jeffrey's knows only the latter, delivering the finest Austin has to offer, each and every visit. When hankering for a fix, I'll drop into the richly decorated bar alive with warm conversation and kindly service where I can snag some of my menu favorites, but the real experience happens in the wood-paneled dining room. This is where a Captain (how they've affectionately named their most trusted servers - think Maître d' expertise with zero pretension because this is Austin culture at its pinnacle) guide me beyond hors d'œuvres and appetizers to house specialties, and the proverbial cherry on-top (no visit would be complete) made-to-order soufflé. Wines by the glass are limited but expertly selected by style and region, pairing elegantly with a similarly considered menu, which shifts seasonally but never in the extreme. Like our home, she's mostly fair-weather, only a few enjoyable surprises. The Tarts of Beef Tartare (available both barside & for full dining service) are never to be missed - genius in composition, texture, and flavor. The challenge is pacing - between these, the airy-yet-rich freshly baked popovers, and (a current OBSESSION) - Sweet Corn Tortellini (with morel, Gruyère veal sweetbreads, weightless whipped ricotta, and black truffle), it takes careful collaboration with the Captain to course through to dessert. The tortellini was breathtaking - technically perfect (Al denté, seasoned appropriately, all things one comes to expect from Jeffrey's), but with radiant flavors where sweet corn shone through textural waves of rich morels and earthy truffle topped in gentle clouds of whipped ricotta - a symphony of delight opening to an oak-fired steak (their signature, choice of premium cuts) and sides (we DID eat some veggies, after all). I will never leave without a soufflé, perhaps that's the excuse for the meal (although as mentioned, so much more than I bargained for), and every time is to DIE a thousand sweet deaths by chocolate. It is warm, airy, decadent, but as soon as it settles the great goodness has passed and I'm ever grateful for another bite. This time was paired with a dark cherry gelato and some cacao nibs. Exquisite - they've outdone themselves again. Bravo! À bientôt.
This is the best restaurant in Austin. The food is creative, interesting and delicious. The service is attentive, friendly and welcoming and the atmosphere is relaxed, intimate and upscale charm. If you are in Austin its a must!
I've been so excited to come to Jeffrey's, and then when I saw it recently named one of the best steakhouses in America, I was worried my expecations would be too high and I would be disappointed. I am happy to say this is one of the rare occasions I was absolutely blown away by a restaurant experience. It was such a delightful evening. Ambiance, service, food, vibe, drinks. I like the area - one of those charming little Austin areas and pulled up - valet guys were super nice and had a good convo with one about celsius beverages. The restaurant itself - not just a big open space, but separate rooms; tastefully decorated: like you can tell it's a high end experience, but not stuffy and not like over the top steakhouse vibe - like a fantastic date night type restaurant. Our server captain, Harold was great. He was super nice, knowledgeable and attentive without being intrusive. One of my favorite thing about the menu was the different ranches you can get your steak from - had a good convo with Harold about it. I obviously wanted to make sure I hit the Texas ranch and was okay with a "northwest ranch" once I knew that would also entail Texas and cool places like Montana. But backing up - I'm sure many others have commented on the bread - it was like a flaky croissant like dinner roll - incredible. Appetizers and such were almost impossible to pick because there are so many I want to try but we had to show restraint. After all, this night was really about one thing: CARNE! We went with the scallops and I've never had such a wonderful scallop in my life. I'm not a mushroom guy but the mushrooms in the dish were delicious. Now, on to the steak - we went with the Texas ranch ribeye and the Northwest ranch filet. I think my reaction was something of saying "My god do I love Texas." Only in Texas can you get such an incredible steak with a hint of Texas magic bbq flavoring on the crust! (Also have to say the sauces were really good and fun, and happy they didn't nickel and dime for them. Caveat: obviously they weren't used for the steak). Now, if I have to choose, I would go with the ribeye again over the filet (which was actually cheaper). When you have one bite of the filet and then the ribeye, while both being wonderful..that Texas ribeye was a different level. Good wines by the glass (and a crazy bottle selection). Again, Harold and his staff were great and just elevated the entire evening. Yes, the restaurant is very expensive. But we walked out of there thinking we had such a wonderful evening, were talking about how he wanted to come back and maybe even sit at the bar and just have a drink and some of their apps. From now on, if someone wants a nice experience in Austin, I am recommending Jeffrey's and can't wait to go back and would absolutely love to take friends/family visiting. I really love Texas, and experiences like Jeffrey's only reinforce that view. I rank it right up there as a top restaurant I've ever been to.
Jeffrey's was one of the best steakhouses I have ever had the pleasure of eating at, I came with my boyfriend to celebrate his birthday and it was wonderful. The service was on point from beginning to end as we were greeted upon arrival and had our own waiter for the stay. They start with a nice warm bread and butter, which was a nice way to start the meal. My boyfriend picked one of the ribeyes for his entree with béarnaise sauce and I picked the duck breast. His steak was excellently cooked and my duck was suburb, I love duck but this was probably the best I ever had. My mouth is watering just writing this now. We then had the chocolate soufflé to finish off the meal. The whole dinner was exceptional from start to finish and the restaurant offered an intimate, sweet space for a special meal.
Jeffreys is not messing around when it comes to an exquisite dining experience. Very nice steak house with an attentive staff. Probably the best service I've ever had. Trust me when I say you will not be running out of water ever, they're attentively checking each table to make sure everyone is having a good experience, change plates and cutlery after every dish, and super helpful with questions. Food was really good. Never had truffled deviled eggs before and they smacked. Steak also was seasoned really well and had this crazy smoky flavor that I've never experienced before. I recommend adding one of their many sauces to choose from! We did garlic confit and rosemary butter and chimichurri sauce which did not disappoint. We also ordered scallops which had incredible flavor. Immaculate vibes. Thanks again for an experience I won't forget and my wallet won't forget either haha
Aside from the lovely ambiance ~ moody, inviting as you could be in someone's study with comfy chairs , booths plus pillows for us gals who need a back support ~ We sat in the bar , our server Caleb was skilled in addressing each of us (not just my husband!) then acknowledging us. He knew the menu and was willing to make recommendations of food, drinks & wine if needed. We enjoyed the deviled eggs & ham & cheese croquettes along with cocktails a Ketel 1 martini and the "MOST" delisssh Milk Punch I HAVE EVER HAD So DELISSH I ordered another Dinner was shared the Little Gem Caesar Salad + the HALIBUT Seriously both these choices are worthy of "licking the plate " each well ' balanced & seasoned perfectly We have been to Jeffrey's b4, in the dining room so we knew what to expect & we were NOT DISAPPOINTED Austin is a foodie town, Jeffries is possibly THE BEST food we had here
Best steakhouse in Austin. Came here with several friends and we got several steaks to share. About 8-10 oz per person was perfect. They had a dry aged steak off menu that was out of this world. The lamb was also done very well. Great wine list and service as well.
My partner and I came here for our anniversary and enjoyed the experience. The service at Jeffrey's was incredible and detail-oriented. Our server was so kind and enthusiastic about our visit and took the time to explain things on the menu to us. I tried escargot for the first time which did not disappoint and omgosh their table bread is so fluffy and good! The restaurant's ambiance is fancy and the interior decor was lovely.
